Some days just don't suck! {san francisco engagement photos, Kelsey and Collin Engagement}

I've had an amazing weekend filled with lots of fun, friends, and photography! But I couldn't have asked for a better close to a wonderful weekend than my engagement shoot this afternoon in San Francisco. I got to shoot side by side with my friend Meghan Wiesman. We've been friends since High School and both jumped into the world of "professional" photography after our kids were born. We are always texting until the early hours of the morning about photography and trading tips and tricks and encouraging each other. Meghan lives in Southern California so we don't get to shoot together often, in fact this weekend was the first time we've shot together as a team. Photography really is an art. I never really saw it that way until recently. I always saw it as my way to freeze moments in time and give them as gifts. But so many times I will be looking at photographer's blogs and see such a different perspective on the same type of subject I've shot several times over and yet I see so many new and creative ways to capture the same thing. Today was a great example of that. Meghan and I got to capture the love between two people in a fun, off the cuff engagement session in San Francisco. We both posed them in various poses in various spots and we both just walked around choosing different angles. I am very eager to see what Meghan captured. You all know me by now! I have no patience when it comes to sharing great photos! So I had to pull out just a handfull of my favorites to show you while I work on the rest later this week.
To give you a little background on the couple.... The couple is Kelsey and Collin. Kelsey and I were best friends in High School. Kelsey was a grade below me in school but that didn't stop us from spending all our free time together! We unfortunately lost touch after High School but thanks to good 'ol Facebook we have been loosely in contact for the past 6 months or so. I realized she lived in San Francisco and had been recently engaged so I asked if she'd want to "model" for Meghan and I while we tried our hand at "team photography" LOL! Really Meghan and I wanted to go out to the city and have fun shooting with out the pressure of a client's expectations. Luckily Kelsey was up for the challenge!
I have been very excited to see her since it has been almost 11 years since we saw each other last. But I didn't quite realize how much I missed her! I think when you go away to college there are so many new and exciting things entering your life that you sometimes don't get a chance to really miss the things and people you left behind. Well I realized today how much I was missing! It brought back so many memories just talking about my old car- a 1970 Bug! LOL!! and all the fun things we used to do in our crazy town of La Verne! But really I think it was just watching her laugh and be so in love that really brought back so many memories. It's funny, I'm not sure if she just really has not aged in 11 years (which is entirely possible cuz really she is gorgeous) or if it's the pure fact that sometimes being in love and looking into the eyes of the love of your life just brings this youthful, vibrant smile to your entire face! But she really did look exactly like she did 11 years ago! If you know Kels you know she is nothing short of fun! and a fun time is what we had this afternoon!
Kels and Collin, thank you so much for being such good sports for us today! I know we asked you to move all over and do this and do that and we drug you all across the city! It was an honor and a pleasure! Here are just a few, not even all my favorites, just a few to hold you over until I can finish the rest!
