The Munro Family

We are so lucky to live in the best neighborhood! We have 4 families just on our block alone with kids under the age of 4. The kids all get along and often play outside together. But we've become especially good friends with one of the families, The Munro's. Their daughter Ella is 3 weeks younger than Aidan so they have been best little pals since they were 4 months old. It's just so crazy to watch them now as they talk to each other..."tank tu, pees, welcome, A-nan!, El-ya, and on and on" Unfortunately for us but fortunately for the Munros they are moving back to Arizona. So, I did a family shoot with them before they moved. We did the shoot at a couple different locations so you might see a difference in some of the photos but I was really happy with how they came out. We didn't go anywhere fancy either, we went to the huge empty field on Banyan and the treeless park behind our houses.

Sara- Available Light vs Studio Light

I'm taking this great class on Saturday afternoons at the Tri-Community Photography School in Covina. The class is focused on available light portraits. We get 1-2 models each week and take them to various locations (usually downtown Covina) and shoot them using available light. Well yesterday was interesting we decided to put up a huge 6ft umbrella with a small studio light to cancel out the extra bright sun. We each only get 1 min. to take photos of the model so most of us hang around like voltures when it isn't our turn trying to get candit shots. When you use studio lights, only the person with the wireless trigger can pop the light so the rest of us had to drastically adjust our camera settings and use avaialbe light to get the candit shots while we were not so patiently waiting our turn. I found it very interesting to see the drastic difference between the shots I got with available light and the ones I got with the studio light. Check them out....

I barely touched these photos up. They didn't really need any edits or touch ups what so ever. Well, I'm sure all those photoshop gurus and crazy creative kids in my class would disagree but I like them the way they came out of the camera so I didn't touch them much at all. In fact the ones with the studio light were not edited at all. The available light ones I just touched up the contrast a tiny bit.

Emilio Venegas Senior Portraits

I was so fortunate to have met such a fun couple as John and Colleen Venegas. They asked me to photograph their wedding last September. I have had such a fun time with these two from shooting their engagement photos to helping them pick all their photos out, they are always making me laugh! Most recently they asked me to come to their home and do a senior portrait session with John's oldest son, Emilio who is graduating from Apple Valley High School.

Josh & Dinna Deegan

My Husband and I have worked with Josh and Dinna for many years. We were both so very happy when they announced their long awaited engagement. We went out this last November and shot their engagement shoot. What a special thing for me to get to be the one to capture them as the couple we've all loved so dearly for so long.

One thing you will notice is a shot of the ring. This is Josh's Grandmother's ring. I just loved that! You just don't see that type of tradition these days.

Heather is the beautiful cousin of my best friend Trinity and when she told me she was getting married I lept at the chance to be their photographer! We went out to Alexander Valley for a gorgeous engagement shoot this past November. It didn't matter which winery we went to, the landscapes were all equaly breathtaking!

Gabe & Cassandra

This is one of the first weddings I booked after I made the decision to get into Wedding Photography. I booked it almost 2 years before they actually got married but the wonderful day finally arrived this last October. Congrats to Gabe & Cassandra on a beautiful wedding and a beautiful marraige!

Here are some portraits taken of the beautiful Casey. This was simply using available light, outdoors, on a Saturday afternoon at around 1pm with a grey backdrop.

Brandon & Ella Levine

I was lucky enough to get a referal from the wonderful Kristen Hennington at Wedgewood in Rohnert Park, CA. Since they were set to be married only a couple months after I met them and since they were a 6 hour drive away, we decided to do their engagement shoot 2 days before the wedding. What a wonderful couple they are! We had so much fun at Mounts Winery and at Bodega Bay.

A little late but worth the wait???

I got quite a bit behind on my Photography blog and then I wasn't happy with the design so I enlisted the help of the wonderful Brooke Linville to help me with a much better design and layout. It is still a work in progress but I will be trying to gather a few photos from some of the photoshoots I've done since my last post....almost 9 months ago!! Enjoy!
