I love when a couple is excited about their engagement session. Katie and Sandy live across the street from the Presidio Movie Theater in San Francisco. When I first met with them they already had it in their minds that they wanted a photo of them with a custom marquee sign. They were lucky enough to have the theater manager customize the left side of the marquee for just a few minutes at a very specific time. So we did their shoot through out the city, took a little break and then ended the shoot in front of the theater.
Normally when I do a shoot in the city I have a general idea of a handful of spots that typically have good lighting, good color or texture, and less distraction of people. But Katie and Sandy had a list of places they really wanted to incorporate into their shoot. This provided me with a great challenge of stepping outside my comfort zone and really working to find the good light in new places. It was an added challenge that it was Sunday of the biggest shopping weekend of the year... in San Francisco, the coolest place to shop ever!
...now I was really excited about the one on the right but I know Katie and Sandy liked the one on the left better when they saw it in the camera. I do have to say though, I like them both!
It gets dark so early now so it's nice to be able to get a couple night time shots when the light is just right.
